Key Definitions:
Minimum Software Version Required means that BAR-97 EIS units must have this version of software or later version to be initialized by BAR or for existing EIS units to remain operative.
Beta Testing means that the BAR-97 EIS manufacturer has been authorized by BAR to install the appropriate software and hardware (if applicable) in BAR-97 EIS units at selected Smog Check stations. BAR monitors these stations to evaluate the EIS unit's compliance with the applicable in-use standards established in the BAR-97 EIS Specifications. If the in-use standards are complied with, certification is granted.
